NX CAM Wire EDM
A Complete Wire EDM Software Solution for Programming 2- and 4-axis EDM Machines
The wire EDM software module in NX offers a wide range of electrical discharge machining (EDM) operations including multi-pass profiling, wire reversing and area removal. The operations can be applied to curves, surfaces or solids.
No-Core Roughing
The specialized no-core EDM methods in NX can prevent problems with loose blocks of materials by completely machining core volumes. The spiral, concentric and follow-contour cutting patterns are optimized to account for missing material and eliminate air cutting.
Profiling
NX CAM provides the internal and external profile cuts that are the basis of wire EDM. You can use the engage and compensation moves that best suit the wire EDM cutting process and produce smooth profile results.
4-Axis Cutting
With the 4-axis capabilities in NX CAM wire EDM software, you can easily program any part featuring tapered walls. It supports synchronized 4-axis cutting, allows you to automatically select all machining faces, and you can use solid faces to control the 4-axis motion.
The created toolpaths are fully associative to the CAD model.
Feature-Based Machining
With NX CAM you can automate the programming of wire EDM machines by using feature-based machining (FBM). NX can recognize wire EDM features, such as pockets, holes and slots, and the start holes for the wire. FBM then automatically applies machining processes to the recognized features.
